Good afternoon Egbert families,

It has been a busy week after a welcome break! We are excited to welcome back our facility operators, and are so grateful for all the work they do keeping our school clean, safe, and ready for learning.

School Council

Our next school council meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 16 online at 6:00 pm.

Why Attend School Council Meetings?

  • Have a Voice: Share your ideas and feedback to help shape the future of our school.
  • Be Involved: Participate in important decisions and initiatives that affect our students, staff, and community.
  • Support Our Students: Your insights and involvement help create a better learning environment for all children.
  • How to Get Involved: We meet once a month and welcome parents with all levels of experience. Whether you're new to our school or have been a part of our community for years, your contribution is valuable!

Athletics

It's Badminton Season!!!!   Tryouts are scheduled for next week after school as follows:

Outstanding Fees

Please check your student’s MyCBE  account to ensure all outstanding fees are paid. A Monthly reminder will be sent to families with outstanding balances for field trips and fees.  Partial payments are accepted throughout our school year.

If you require support to pay student fees, please click the following link: Student Fees and Service Registration

If you have additional questions about the payment of student fees, we encourage you to contact the main office for assistance!

Parent-Teacher Conferences and Beyond

Our staff wanted to thank all families who participated in online conferences. The meetings held between teachers, students and parents are vital for reinforcing the relationship around learning. We wish to keep the communication open through the end of the school year.  Parents can support continued learning through: having daily conversations about topics covered in class; viewing D2L resources and assessment results in MyCBE and; promoting the habit of daily reading, review of English vocabulary, and regular Math practice. Should you have any concerns about your child's learning, please contact the students teacher(s).

Personal Mobile Device

We have experienced an increase of student personal mobile device usage and request you remind your child of the guidelines that were mandated by legislation:

  • Personal mobile devices are not permitted to be used inside the school.
  • Mobile devices must be powered off / turned to silent mode and remain in student lockers
  • Students are permitted to use their personal devices at lunch time, but this must be outside of the school building (i.e. not in the lunchroom, or in the hallways)
  • We will continue to follow the Progressive Discipline Policy for students not meeting the guidelines outlined.

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) May/June 2025

In May and June of this year, Grade 9 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 9. These results are used to improve learning opportunities for students and inform our School Development Plans for 2024-27.
